Macronutrients

The protein powerhouse

The protein in Plenny Shake Pro comes from soy protein isolate, oats, soy flour and flaxseed – a combination that provides all nine essential amino acids your body can’t make on its own.

Each shake provides 40 grams of protein, which not only helps with muscle repair and growth but also keeps you full longer. That’s because protein digests more slowly than carbs, meaning fewer snack attacks later in the day.

We chose soy protein isolate as the main protein source because of its high digestibility and absorption rate. Want to read more about plant-based protein? This article will tell you all about it! [1,2]

The combination of protein sources in the Plenny Shake Pro ensures a complete amino acid profile that goes above and beyond the World Health Organisation’s daily recommendation for an average adult. In short, it’s got everything your body needs to build, repair, and thrive. [3, 4]

The good fats

In Plenny Shake Pro v4 fats come from sunflower oil, flaxseed, and soy flour, adding the essential fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6. Your body can’t make these on its own, but they’re essential for brain function, hormone balance and keeping your cells in good shape. [5]

Sunflower oil brings in heart-healthy polyunsaturated fats (omega-6), flaxseed adds alpha-linolenic acid (ALA, omega-3), and soy flour supports the fat content of the meal as well.

These ingredients combined achieve the following omega profile:

Carbs done right

The main carb source here is oats – not just because they taste great, but because they’re full of beta-glucans and have a low Glycemic Index (GI). [6] This means they release energy slowly, keeping your blood glucose and mood stable (no crash, no crankiness). As a second energy source we use soy flour.

Fibre: the unsung hero

We’re big fans of fibre around here. It keeps things moving! Plenny Shake Pro v4 gets its fibre from inulin, oats and flaxseed. Together, they support gut health, help maintain healthy blood pressure and feed your good gut bacteria.

Inulin, a prebiotic extracted from chicory root, deserves special mention. It acts as food for good bacteria in your gut and also the probiotics in the shake, creating a symbiotic effect. [7,8]

All three ingredients are added to achieve a wider variety of fibre and upgrade the type of fibre per portion. If you are curious to know more, check out this blog dedicated to gut health and fibres!

Micronutrients

The vitamin and mineral mix that we add to the meals provides all the essential 26 micronutrients.[9] We use the most bioavailable and stable forms to make sure your body actually absorbs them.

For instance, vitamin D comes in its vegan D3 form (cholecalciferol), and vitamin K as K2 (menaquinone-7), which is better utilised by the body. From A to zinc, each nutrient is carefully dosed to hit daily reference intakes. You can read more about our micronutrient mix here.

Choline and probiotics: the bonus brains

We didn’t stop at the basics. We added choline and probiotics.

Choline is an essential nutrient your body uses for brain function, metabolism, and cellular health; more specifically, it carries important building blocks called methyl groups, which are very important in food processes and in the brain, for example. [10]

Then there’s Bacillus coagulans (MTCC 5856), our probiotic of choice. This friendly bacteria supports gut health and works hand in hand with the fibres in the shake. Together, they create a symbiotic combo – fibre feeds the probiotics, probiotics strengthen our gut microbiota. [11] Everyone wins (especially your digestion).
