Plenny Protein also contains 26 vitamins and minerals, probiotics and a powerful antioxidant from microalgae.

Plenny Protein, based on soy and fava beans, delivers a substantial 25 g of protein per serving, helping you easily meet your protein intake goals. Protein is known for promoting a longer feeling of fullness, reducing hunger and cravings throughout the day, and thus curbing stress eating. When combined with a healthy diet and strength training, a high-protein diet can enhance muscle-building. Protein intake is crucial for metabolism, appetite regulation, and muscle development, potentially aiding in weight management.


Our formula is boosted with two essential amino acids: leucine and lysine. Although these are naturally present in soy and fava, we've enriched the formula with additional amounts. For those who exercise regularly, certain amino acids, like the branched-chain amino acids (BCAA), are vital. BCAAs comprise three essential amino acids—leucine, isoleucine, and valine—forming about one-third of muscle proteins. BCAAs are particularly beneficial for exercise as they are metabolized directly in the muscles. Leucine stands out among these, aiding in protein synthesis, insulin release, improved athletic performance, reduced fatigue, and decreased muscle injuries during physical activity [1].


Lysine intake can be challenging in plant-based diets, so we've added more to our formula. It's key in protein production and essential for muscle maintenance and growth. Beyond muscle health, lysine is vital for collagen formation, found in skin, tendons, bones, and ligaments, thus playing a critical role in wound healing and recovery post-exercise [2][3]. Additionally, lysine is integral to synthesizing carnitine, a protein that transforms fatty acids into energy. This not only boosts energy levels but also helps in regulating cholesterol levels [4].

Carbs, Fats and Fibre 

Wondering why a protein shake would contain anything other than protein? Great question! In the Plenny Protein shake, there's a modest amount of carbs, fats, and fibre, and each plays a crucial role. These components are what make our shake more than just a typical protein blend – they're key to its delicious taste. The carbs mainly come from flavoring elements like cocoa powder; the fats are derived from a touch of sunflower oil and ground flaxseed, enhancing the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and enriching the shake with omega 3; the fiber is sourced from flaxseeds and guar gum. These "extra" ingredients do more than just boost the nutritional value of the shake – they also contribute to a satisfying mouthfeel and delightful taste.


Micronutrients

The vitamin and mineral mix in Plenny Protein ensures that each serving delivers at least 10% of the Reference Intake for all 26 essential micronutrients. We carefully select the most bioavailable forms of these micronutrients, ensuring that your body can easily and efficiently absorb every bit of the vitamins and minerals provided. What are the differences between the Plenny Protein and a Plenny Shake?

Although both Plenny Shake and Plenny Protein are enriched with probiotics, vitamins, and minerals, they are designed for different nutritional goals. The Plenny Shake provides a balanced, nutritionally complete meal at 400 kcal, suitable for a full meal replacement. Plenny Protein, however, containing only 137 kcal, is perfect as a high-protein snack and is not meant to substitute a complete meal.

Choline, probiotics, and antioxidants!

We wanted to add extra functional benefits to our protein shake, for which we dug into the best ingredients out there and decided to add choline, probiotics and algae. 

Choline is a small organic molecule that your body needs to function properly. It is an essential nutrient because it is a key element in metabolic pathways that govern our bodies and run our cells; more specifically, it carries important building blocks called methyl groups, which are very important in food processes and the brain. [5]

Moreover, probiotics came to our thoughts because of their ability to possibly enhance and strengthen our gut microbiome. [6]

And lastly, the cherry on the cake: the freeze-dried microalgae Tetraselmis chuii. This alga has a lot of the antioxidant “superoxide dismutase” (SOD). Our body naturally produces this antioxidant, but as we age, we produce less and the quantity decreases. SOD is the first antioxidant in the line of defense against ROS: reactive oxygen species. These can damage proteins, lipids and genetic material. When there are too many ROS and too few antioxidants to battle them, the antioxidant defense system gets overwhelmed, and the body will experience oxidative stress. [7]

Many diseases, including cancer, atherosclerosis, diabetes, chronic inflammation, neurodegenerative disorders, and cognitive disorders, are thought to be influenced by oxidative stress. However, studies have shown the advantages of antioxidant supplementation in reducing oxidative stress.[8]

Tetraselmis chuii may boost heart and lung health according to a 30-day study. It also seems to support the immune system by increasing key immune cells. The studies in amateur athletes and young men suggest improvements in cardiovascular health, potential reduction in inflammation, and better overall health, which could contribute to enhanced blood sugar control and lower cholesterol levels.
